LSS services update: New Family LawLINE

A new LSS telephone advice line for family law clients was launched on Monday, November 1, 2010. Every weekday between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., family lawyers give brief "next step" advice over the telephone to callers who do not qualify for other services. read more>>

In June 2010, we introduced the new simplified criminal and family legal aid tariffs. On November 17, 2010, a new simplified CFCSA (child protection) tariff was introduced. read more>>

LSS hosts workshops around BC

In the past couple of months, LSS staff travelled first to Kamloops and later to Prince George to deliver workshops on legal aid services and recent developments in family law. These workshops allowed participants to exchange information face-to-face, share personal stories and experiences, honestly express perspectives, clarify viewpoints, and respond to community concerns and opportunities. read more>>

The Parenting After Separation (PAS) program was expanded on October 1, 2010 to four new mandatory PAS sites (Campbell River, Courtenay, Penticton, and Vernon) in Provincial Court. The Ministry of Attorney General is also promoting voluntary participation in PAS for people going to Supreme Court.
