Possible service disruption at Legal Services SocietyThe Legal Services Society on Friday, July 23 received 72-hour strike notice from the BCGEU representing LSS support, technical and professional (non-lawyer) staff. The union will be in a legal strike position at the LSS Vancouver and Terrace offices effective noon, Monday, July 26. Details of what actions, if any, the union intends to take have not been provided. In the event of a labour disruption, the Legal Services Society will do its best to ensure that the province-wide, toll-free call centre remains available to assist clients. Local agents will continue to provide existing services. Further information about any impact on services will be distributed as necessary. The Legal Services Society remains committed to reaching an agreement with the BCGEU through the collective bargaining process and continues to be available to resume negotiations. Harold V.J.
