Community worker resources

Poverty Law Primer

The Poverty Law Primer was designed to assist lawyers who advise or represent clients with poverty or civil law problems. LSS is making the Primer available as a resource for community workers who need to understand the law so that they can guide their clients to appropriate services and resources that can help to resolve their legal problems.

The legal information in the Primer is not intended to be used by community workers, their clients, or others as legal advice for specific legal problems. Only a qualified lawyer (or in some cases a person supervised by a lawyer) can provide legal advice. Community workers should check the legal information before relying on it as law changes frequently.

LSS has other services and publications, as well as links to information about other organizations that can help to resolve legal problems. If you are a community worker or someone with a legal problem, please go to the LSS homepage and select “I am a…Person who needs legal help” to get more information about available resources and services.
